Mystic word derive from the word mystery. For the world, mystics life looks very mysterious, but mystics live a very simple life. In fact, most simplest life possible. Have a few clothes, eat simple food, live simple hut or sometimes traveling from one place or another, but somehow, people call them mystic. Actually they give this name simply because, for the social people, do not understand, how somebody can live so happily with so less. How in the ocean of pain and misery life can become so abundant. Because of this, whole west misunderstand and misinterpret Buddha. They thought, he is life negative, one of the fundamental reasons behind is, Buddha used the Sutra of Neti, Neti, Neti. Neti in English translation will be not this, not this, not this. So they think, for to become a Buddha, one need to renounce the world, renounce all pleasure, renounce all material possessions and so on. But in reality, Buddha is the most life positive person. What Buddhist Vikshus are doing, shave their head, wearing a maroon clothes, holding begging bowl, begging from door to door.
It is not because for to make them poor, look like poor or this is the only way to go to Nirvana or heaven. Buddha took that Sutra, because when people come to him, then they always like to cling to something for to save their ego. And because of that clinging, they miss life. And all the grandiosity of life. Just simple example, if you are putting yourself inside a big house or a palace, how you will enjoy the grand sunrise and mysterious beauty of sunset? If you make your whole city full of electric lights, how you are going to see the beauty of full moon? If your eyes stuck on gold and money, how that eyes can see the smile of a flower and the dance of a butterfly? So, all the Buddhas, all the mystics try to drop all rubbish surrounds life, prevents for to see the glory of God shining and dancing in all his creation. All the self-realized persons from beginning of time till today, realized a great truth, the art of living, comes from the death of ego.
Ancient times, a group of mystics lived in Syria and Jordan, Jesus spend time with them, they have a common belief in them, they say, if you want to the learn art of living, then you need to learn the art of dying. Same tradition, we can see in Sufi-mystics, they will always live, around graveyards. Simply because, they got this realization, to live life with full celebration, they have to kill the ego, only then resurrection of the soul will be possible. What can be more simple to understand, nobody can be born by his own will, whole life goes through breathing, no human have a power over the breathing, death also comes beyond ones wish, every existential thing is happening in life, happens without the will of a person. If nothing happens by ones will, then what is the absurd or madness to think, I am doing this, I am doing that. If there is any miracle of God, it is the greatest miracle how millions and millions of people, year after year can live in a delusion, me and my. I do this, I do that, this is mine, that is mine, when everybody comes in the world with empty hands, and goes back with empty hands, and waste the whole beautiful times in delusional ego, live in a deep sleep of falsehood. So Buddha says, when you will drop all this physical and mental child stuff, only then, you can see the beauty, you will hear "sargam," the sound of seven sounds, or the sound of silence, the omni sound of "Aum" echoing in the heart and transcending in the whole universe. But, how insensitive eyes, dead eyes can see except black? When one lives the life of a Buddha, the life of a mystic, then one from son of a carpenter becomes Jesus Christ. When one hold nothing, the whole universe becomes his. Every rose blooms for him, sun rises for him, river flows for him, birds sing for him. This is the meaning of the whole universe is created for Jesus Christ. Whole universe made for Buddhas If God was not going to send these beautiful Mystics, Messiahs, Buddhas, Christ perhaps the whole human society still is going to crawl like animals.
All this enlightened Masters, make our life beautiful, every enlightened Master came to our earth, make our life more richer, more hopeful, more melodic and colorful.
